Is Your Sliding Glass Door A Security Weakness On Your Home?
Our opinion is sliding glass doors are often the easiest way for a burglar to enter a home and most often not considered as a risk for most home owners. No matter what type of door you have we have a solution to make it secure and safe.
How Intruders Enter Through Sliding Glass Doors
Sliding glass doors and windows offer the intruder several means of entry. These include prying the doors open with a screwdriver or pry bar, lifting the door or window out of the track, or simply breaking the glass. We have products to protect each entry. There are also many solutions you can do with household items you may all ready have in your home. You can help prevent this by:
Ways You Can Secure Your Door At Home
Using screws or a piece of wood attached to the top of the track to take up the space above the sliders preventing the slider from being lifted out of the track. A Charlie Bar or similar device should be used to prevent the door from being pried open. A simple piece of wooden dowel cut the length between the door and frame and placed on the bottom track will prevent door from being pried open.
High Security Sliding Glass Door Locks
At A Professional Locks we recommend the CAL double bolt high security lock with two security locking points. This lock makes it virtually impossible to remove or open the door by lifting it off its track or forced entry by seperating the door. It can replace your existing lock or serve as a secondary lock on your door. It is easy to install and adds great security at a low price. See the video or click here for more information. CAL locks and several other items are in stock and we can install too. Call today or click for service request on home page today.
Security Window Film
At A Professional Locks we can also install security film on patio door glass or any window to prevent an intruder from being able to reach through or come through any piece of glass on your home. Windows are, and always have been, the quickest way for people to gain access to someplace they’re not supposed to be. And if they’re going in through a smashed window, it’s usually because time is something they don’t have much of.
Our installed security film stops these intruders in their tracks. When struck, the glass will break, but not shatter, preventing the intruder from entering quickly, and leaving him wondering what to do next. In most cases, the answer is simple: move on. Our SafetyShield is among the first films in the world to pass the UL972 standard for Anti-Intrusion – making it the easy choice to help secure your home or business from theft and intrusion.
